Oral hygiene

Oral hygiene and periodontal disease.
Many people treat their mouth as if it were a separate part of their body. But the reality is that everything in our bodies is interconnected. And problems in the mouth can cause or be an indicator of diseases in other parts of the body, such as heart disease.
Professional teeth cleaning is an integral part of maintaining oral and overall body health.
Scientists talk about two reasons for the need for hygienic cleaning: prevention of diseases of the whole body (even such as heart disease, diabetes), and to prevent tooth loss. The oral cavity has a unique environment in which external interference occurs throughout the day and, as a result, attacks by bacteria and microorganisms. Under the influence of this, the body needs to fight external attacks and our teeth are at the forefront of this process. And our task is to help the body in this fight.

The causes of periodontal disease can be different, but as with many other oral diseases, bacteria and plaque are often the culprits. In fact, the list of causes of periodontal disease is wide and can include various problems that, at first glance, are not even related to teeth. One of the main principles of treating inflammatory periodontal diseases is an individual approach to choosing and planning therapeutic manipulations. This takes into account the features of the clinical manifestation of the disease in a particular patient, the presence of background pathology, the possibilities and strict indications for prescribing drug treatment.
The main goals of periodontal treatment are:
– Elimination of inflammation in periodontal tissues.
– Elimination of periodontal pockets as a source and reservoir of microflora.
– Stopping bleeding from the gums and reducing tooth mobility.
– Stopping the destruction of bone and soft periodontal tissues.
– Establishing optimal occlusal relationships.
– Restoration of destroyed periodontal tissues and physiological gum margins.
– Elimination of disease recurrence and premature tooth loss.
Treatment can be local or general. A periodontist will conduct a professional examination and determine a treatment plan for each specific case.
