Veneers – what are they?
You may have also noticed the whiteness of our show stars' teeth. It seems that they don't just have a Hollywood smile, but their teeth just glow. You're always wondering how you can whiten your teeth so much, but it turns out that there is a completely different, more gentle way to turn your smile into a decoration. A plate 0.2 mm thick is made of super-strong porcelain and glued to the front side of the teeth. Such plates are called veneers. The service life is 20 years - experts say that this is the minimum, but far from the limit.
Your teeth don't suffer!
Veneers are glued to the teeth using a special material. It is very strong, saliva cannot dissolve it. Due to the high fluoride content, this material does not damage the enamel. If the owner of Hollywood veneers wants to remove them, the doctor will be able to do it quite easily using a special tool, while the teeth and enamel themselves will not be damaged. Veneers can be attached not only directly to the tooth, but also to fillings - this is an important advantage of this restoration method.
Veneers can successfully mask some defects of teeth – dark spots, stripes on enamel. You can change the original color of teeth and make a snow-white smile. Veneers can also be placed on depulped, that is, dead teeth, devoid of nerves. As a rule, such teeth differ in color from the rest and look unattractive. Veneers can correct this defect.
To achieve the desired aesthetic effect of a Hollywood smile, doctors advise placing veneers across the width of your smile, i.e. at least 8-10 teeth. Then a row of your teeth will be maintained in a uniform color and shape.
Veneers do not have a standard shape, they are made individually for each client. They can correct many defects: they can remove gaps between teeth, correct the incorrect position of the tooth. Thanks to veneers of different thicknesses, it is possible to correct minor irregularities of the anatomical surface of the teeth. This method of prosthetics creates the illusion of perfectly even teeth, the visual effect can be compared with the result of treatment by an orthodontist.
If the teeth are badly damaged, then they must first be restored with composite materials and only then covered with veneers. If the defects are minor, for example, there is abrasion of the enamel or there is a small chip of the cutting edge, then preliminary restoration will not be required, they can be corrected with the help of veneers. The porcelain from which veneers are made is quite strong, does not change its color over time. Therefore, after the installation of veneers, there will be no need for additional correction.
